Based on many requests from the readers and clients, this is a follow up article on earlier post published about Aakasa Garuda Root.

The Garuda Root, also known in certain traditions as a spiritually potent botanical, is revered for its mystical ability to detect and balance positive and negative energies in the surroundings. Used in many households and spiritual spaces, it is believed to act as both a protector and an energy indicator.

Below is a step-by-step guide to properly prepare, install, and maintain the Garuda Root so it can serve its intended spiritual purpose.

Step 1: Washing the Root

Before beginning, choose a clean outdoor location such as your garden tap or a dedicated pooja (worship) material washing area.

  • Why this matters: The kitchen sink is not recommended because the root is treated as a sacred object, and the kitchen is primarily a food preparation space. Washing it outdoors or in a puja area maintains spiritual sanctity.
  • Rinse the root thoroughly in clean, running water to remove any dust or soil.

Step 2: Applying Turmeric

Once the root is clean, gently apply turmeric powder all around it.

  • Why turmeric? Turmeric is considered highly auspicious in many traditions, known for its antiseptic and purifying properties. Spiritually, it is believed to attract positive vibrations and protect against negativity.

Step 3: Tying with Yellow Thread

Take a yellow cotton thread and wrap it around the root four to five times—similar to the way thread is tied around a Kalash (sacred pot) during rituals.

  • Symbolism of the yellow thread: Yellow represents purity, auspiciousness, and divine energy, making it ideal for spiritual objects.

Step 4: Applying Vermilion Tilak

Mark the root with a vermilion (kumkum) tilak on one side.

  • Spiritual purpose: Vermilion is often used in rituals to invoke blessings and symbolize divine presence.

Step 5: Performing Pooja

Place the prepared root in your pooja area and offer prayers. Pass the root through the smoke of burning dhoop (sacred incense).

  • This process is believed to charge the root with spiritual energy.
  • After the pooja, hang the root above the main door or at the main entrance gate, positioning it so that it faces incoming visitors or energy.

Step 6: Observing Energy Response

The Garuda Root acts as a natural energy indicator:

  • Positive energy present: Small green shoots will begin to sprout from the root, absorbing natural moisture from the air.
  • Negative energy present: The root will begin to shrink, decay, or collapse in size, similar to a deflated balloon.

Step 7: Maintenance and Replacement

  • If the root is growing and healthy, leave it undisturbed—it is functioning well.
  • If the root decays, this indicates it has absorbed negative energies and can no longer function. In such cases, repeat the above process with a new Garuda Root to restore protection.

Why Use the Garuda Root?

Many spiritual practitioners and households believe the Garuda Root:

  • Protects against harmful or negative vibrations.
  • Brings peace, harmony, and prosperity to the home.
  • Acts as a visible indicator of the surrounding energy quality.

Whether you view it through the lens of tradition, spirituality, or symbolism, the Garuda Root remains a unique and meaningful element in energy cleansing rituals.

Tip: Always handle the Garuda Root with respect, as it is considered a sacred spiritual object. Avoid touching it casually or letting it come into contact with unclean surfaces.
